Eileen Joyce is a Professor of Neuropsychiatry at The Institute of Neurology, University College London. She is primarily interested in the neural basis of schizophrenia. Her research focuses on neurocognitive dysfunction in the early stages of schizophrenia, and how it relates to both brain structural changes and clinical manifestations of the disorder. Professor Joyce received a degree in psychology from the University of Cambridge where she also completed her PhD in dopamine psychopharmacology. She then went on to study medicine at Cambridge and trained in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. She is currently Chairman of the British Neuropsychiatry Association.
