The striatum occupies a central position in the acquisition and expression of affectively-charged behaviour. It is associated with anatomically distinctive internal and external circuits, is the target of rich cocktails of neuromodulators, and is implicated in many neurological and psychiatric diseases. It has been the focus of a huge wealth of experimental and theoretical studies at multiple scales of investigation.
This meeting brings together six leading world experts spanning key facets of the striatum, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and computational modeling to share the latest data and insights:
Kent Berridge, University of Michigan
Rui Costa, Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown
Michael Frank, Brown University
Ann Graybiel, MIT
Satoshi Ikemoto, NIDA/NIH
Larry Swanson, University of Southern California.
John O'Keefe (SWC, UCL)
Peter Dayan (GCNU, UCL)
