The University of Cambridge ranks as the top academic institution in the UK, and 14th worldwide, in the field of neuroscience and behaviour based on citations per paper (impact).

Data was extracted from the Essential Science Indicators database of Thomson Reuters and reported in the Times Higher Education Supplement on February 5th, 2009. To read the article and view individual scores please click here.

The Medical Research Council (MRC) which has a significant neuroscience base here at Cambridge (including the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology and the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit - both of which are Institutions affiliated with the University of Cambridge) ranked as 6th worldwide in the area of neuroscience and behaviour.

Ranking is by citations per paper (impact) amongst those Institutions that have collected 25, 000 or more citations in the field of neuroscience and behaviour. This data-base included results from 43, 700 Institutes, covering the period January 1998 through to October 2008, and surveys only journal articles (origional research reports and review articles) indexed by Thompson Reuters.
