Medical i-Teams

Deadline for applications: Monday 9 December

Interested in commercialising new medical inventions and matching them to user needs? Looking for some hands-on experience? Then read on! By joining a Medical i-Team, you will work for a term with post-docs and PhD students from across the University and a dedicated industry mentor. You will receive training from industry experts and investigate the commercial potential and user requirements of a real Cambridge medical invention, gaining hands-on skills and experience.

Lent Term projects:

1.       Investigating patient and clinician acceptance of different methods for monitoring glucose levels, with Dr. Gita Khalili Moghaddam, Professor Chris Lowe & GlycoVue.

2.       Identifying medical applications for a device which can improve fine motor skills, with Dr. Gerald Mako of Cambridge Motorics

3.       Finding the best medical applications for a new neurostimulation device, with Dr. Christopher Proctor & Vincenzo Curto, Electrical Engineering, and Dr. Damiano Barone, Addenbrookes

The programme lasts for a term and includes regular group sessions, team meetings and individual work. i-Teams present their final recommendations to a business and academic audience at the end of the term. Projects run on Tuesday evenings from 14th January 2020 with a final presentation session on 10th March 2020. To find out more about Medical i-Teams and this term's projects visit www.iteamsonline.orgYou will also find details of the Innovation i-Teams course which may be of interest. Apply via Monday 9th December, including a CV and a covering letter explaining which projects you want to do and why. Applications are welcomed from post-docs and postgraduates from any discipline. No previous medical or commercial background is required.
