MRC Confidence in Concept Funding – Round 7

The Office for Translational Research is pleased to announce the launch of the 7th call for submissions for the Cambridge MRC Confidence in Concept award scheme.

The aim of the Confidence in Concept scheme is to accelerate the transition from discovery science into new therapies, diagnostics and medical devices with human health benefit by pump-priming translational research projects. It is intended to support the development of concrete pilot data which will make projects more competitive to be able to then seek substantive translational funding or investment from external partners.

All Principal Investigators at the University of Cambridge are eligible to apply so long as the project is translational with a clear benefit to human health and is within the remit of the MRC. Investigators from Cambridge University Hospital with University affiliations may also apply. Collaborative projects with industry are allowed and strongly encouraged, as are cross-departmental collaborations.

Application process

Full details and documents can be found on the Office for Translational Research website.

The application process is single stage, however, all investigators must declare their intention to submit an application to the Office for Translational Research ( as soon as possible and no later than Friday May 5th 2017. Please include details of investigators involved as well as the proposed title of the research proposal.
