The Department of Psychiatry is part of the School of Clinical Medicine. This department has been the top performing (quality) psychiatry group in the most recent three Research Assessment Exercises, including the top quality ranking, together with Clinical Neurosciences, for RAE 2008. Maintaining close working relationships with two NHS trusts, the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation NHS trust and the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS trust, it occupies four locations and has approximately 120 members (including 35 postgraduate students), some 60 research grants and numerous general accounts.

The Department wishes to appoint an Operations Manager who will be responsible, with the Head of Department, for the administrative management of the department. The role holder is the conduit between the department and the Clinical School, and the wider University.

You will support the Head of Department in managing personnel issues, procurement of equipment, strategic and financial planning and administration; co-ordinating all research grants, and overseeing facilities and estate matters throughout the department. The new administrator will also be responsible for the supervision of all support staff within the department.

You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent and have relevant experience of high-level administration, financial and staff management, with excellent interpersonal skills and a hands-on proactive approach.
