An Invitation to explore the Musical Brain, 2nd - 3rd October, 2010, London.
The Musical Brain invites the public, scientists, music lovers, medical professionals and students to a weekend of talks, discussions and concerts centred on Schumann.
Professor Nigel Osborne, composer and pioneer in music therapy, and Stephen Johnson, writer and BBC Radio 3 presenter, will introduce lectures by neuroscientists and psychiatrists and lead discussions, illustrated by concerts featuring the music of Robert Schumann (1810–1856) and composers who influenced or were influenced by him.
Cambridge Neuroscientist Dr. Jessica Grahn will additionally be contributing to this event. Jessica has also recently been asked to deliver the prestigious British Science Association Award Lecture in recognition of her work as an 'outstanding young communicator'.
