Restricted call: MRC Mental health data research hub

Restricted call: MRC Mental health data research hub

MRC, in partnership with Health Data Research UK,  has announced a call for the Mental health data research hub. The hub will underpin original research by providing innovative, high-value data resources for research and innovation. It will not directly support original research. Funding is available for the development of one hub over three years. The hub will be funded at 80% fEC.

Applications must be able to demonstrate appropriate scientific and clinical leadership, a track record of the use of health data for public benefit and the ability to process health data for research and innovation. The hub must deliver a national service that will be financially sustainable in the long-term. Recognising the value of regional data sets and leadership, it is expected that proposals will involve one, or more, multi-institutional collaborations across the UK. However, proposals must be submitted by a single lead organisation. At least one member of the partnership must have a demonstrable track record in acting as a data custodian with the ability to make data accessible for research, development and innovation taking place across academia, industry and the NHS. Collaboration across sectors, including NHS organisations, academia, industry and other partners, including international co-investigators, are strongly encouraged. Further information on the call is available here.

University Internal selection:

Institutions may be partners to more than one application but should only act as the lead institution for one. Therefore, this call will be managed according to the University’s restricted calls procedure.

To take part in the internal selection process please submit the attached internal selection form together with a support letter from the Head of the Department / Centre / Institute that will hold the grant, confirming their support for the project and agreement to host the Hub to by 6 January 2021.

Due to the funder’s timetable for this call, we have had to set the internal deadline so early in January, in order to allow for the internal selection process to take place.
