Calling Cambridge Neuroscientists: Applications now open for Science Media Studentships

Do you want to work in the broadcast sector? Do you want to use your scientific expertise to influence programme content and production? The Science Media Studentships enable bright, articulate and motivated scientists to explore a career in the broadcast industry.

The Wellcome Trust are offering financial support for two biomedical scientists to undertake a postgraduate qualification in Science Media Production at Imperial College London, plus a six-month placement working in the broadcast industry.

"Being on the course has been a hugely rewarding experience; I have been given an invaluable insight into the theory behind communicating science and making films, as well as a wealth of skills that will aid my transition into the broadcast sector,"

said Kelly Neaves who won the Studentship award in 2010.

Dominic Rees-Roberts, also a 2010 award winner, said:

"I've come away from the course with the confidence that I can go into a television production company and make useful contributions to the production process".

Applications are now open. Applicants must have a PhD in the biomedical sciences and be resident in the UK. Deadline for applications is Friday 25 February 2011.
