Restricted call: BBSRC Strategic Longer and Larger grants: Frontier bioscience

Restricted call: BBSRC Strategic Longer and Larger grants: Frontier bioscience (registration deadline 30 July 2020)

BBSRC has announced the 2020/21 Strategic Longer and Larger grants (sLoLa) call for proposals focused on frontier bioscience. Applications are welcome for cutting edge, innovative and ambitious research across all biological scales, including multi-scale approaches. Proposals must be over £2 million and can be up to five years in duration.

Applicants should provide clear justification for the need for funding through the sLoLa mechanism, demonstrating a coordinated and fully integrated research programme that could not be undertaken through a series of smaller awards.

Further information on the sLoLa scope and the call requirements can be found in the call guidance documents.

University Internal Coordination

The BBSRC has asked Institutions to prioritise their potential applications to the call. Therefore, it will be coordinated according to the University's restricted calls policy.

Applicants are required to register their Intention to Submit to researchstrategy@admin.cam.ac.uk by 30 July 2020 (including the same information submitted in the BBSRC by completing the online survey or by downloading the word document Word format registration survey and sending the completed document to bbsrc.lolagrants@bbsrc.ukri.org) to take part in the internal selection process, if necessary.

Be aware of the Funder Deadlines:

  • Registration deadline (mandatory): 30 July 2020, 16:00 (the aim of the call registration is to ensure outlines are appropriately targeted to this call, to provide an early indication of the level of demand and to allow institutional-level demand moderation steps to be taken if necessary).
  • Outline applications deadline: 10 September 2020, 16:00
  • Full application (invite only) deadline: TBC
