MRC Confidence in Concepts Award to Cambridge - Internal call open!

The MRC has made a Confidence in Concepts award to Cambridge University of £600,000 following an application led by Professor Sir Patrick Sissons. The aim of this funding is to develop biological and biomedical concepts with the potential for:

  • Improving therapy
  • Disease management
  • Healthcare
  • Other preventative strategies

Concepts will be moved from discovery research to a stage where they could be funded by schemes such as the MRC Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme, the Wellcome Translation Fund, the BBSRC Follow on Fund or directly by industry. Funding will be used to accelerate the transition from discovery research to translational development by supporting preliminary work or feasibility studies to establish the viability of an approach.

Applications for up to £60,000 should be submitted to the office of the Regius Professor of Physic by Thursday 6th December 2012.

Please click here for an application form and here for a copy of the guidelines for application.

It is anticipated that there will be further application rounds over the coming year.
