Welcome to WHAT IF!

Welcome to WHAT IF!

The first truly global business idea competition and
accelerator programme.

We can help you develop your scientific idea into a
successful start-up business.

Come to our launch event on the 9th of June or apply directly:

What is WHAT IF!?
The WHAT IF! programme is organised by the Innovation Forum to identify and accelerate disruptive ideas in the field of Deep Technology
We define deep technology as technology that can be applied to healthcare, environmental conservation and sustainability, aiming to improve human or animal wellbeing. Examples include: new medicines, medical devices, new materials or engineering solutions helping to improve life or preserve the natural environment in a balanced state.
How can we help you?
At Innovation Forum we aim to break down the obstacles in translating scientific ideas to real-world application and accelerate the speed of technology adoption for the benefit of the wider society. For more information about us Click Here.

To develop your business and maximise its global benefit to society, we can provide:
  • Expert Mentorship
  • Prizes worth £30,000+
  • Laboratory space
  • Advice from leading professional services companies
  • Extensive networking across the Innovation Forum platform.
Participation in the WHAT IF! Accelerator is free, and we do not take any equity stake in your company. Furthermore, we will introduce selected teams to venture capital firms, multinational companies and other key stakeholders to enable the rapid acceleration of your business.
Don't have a team?

No problem! Come to our launch event (9th of June, Engineering Department, Cambridge University), where you can network with other entrepreneurs, build teams and talk to our mentors in a relaxed atmosphere.
Accelerator structure
The program consists of two parts - a local and global platform. Participant teams start by submitting to the local competition. The winner and runner up of the local competition will be pooled to the global WHAT IF! Program. Here they will commence the global acceleration phase as part of the Top 50 - sourced globally from our 16 branches and online registration portal. From the Top 50, 10 will be invited to pitch and compete for a non-dilutive prize in Cambridge during our annual conference.
