Cambridge Neuroscience Seminar at Robinson College on Thursday 14th March 2019

Cambridge Neuroscience is delighted to announce the 31st Cambridge Neuroscience Seminar, 'Signalling, Sensation & Sentience' hosted by the Department of Pharmacology on Thursday 14th March 2019, at Robinson College. Dr Ewan St John Smith is the chair of the Scientific Programme committee.

The aim of this annual interdisciplinary meeting (about 280-300 delegates) is to give a snapshot into the extent of neuroscience research here in Cambridge and how it fits into the broader context of neuroscience worldwide.  This year will focus on areas of research that highlight the interdisciplinary nature of the Pharmacology Department here at Cambridge, with sessions covering development, physiology, cognition degeneration and regeneration.

Data Blitz at CNS 2018 on Thursday 14th March 2019

There will be a data blitz for early career researchers held during the main programme. Abstracts will be selected from submitted poster abstracts. Research can cover any of the five themes of Cambridge Neuroscience. Deadline for Abstract submission is Monday February 25th 2019 and presenters will be notified of selection by Monday March 4th (Early abstract submission is advisable) to ensure adequate preparation time. Selected presenters will be allowed to speak for a maximum of 3 minutes.

Poster exhibition at CNS 2019 on Thursday 14th March 2019

There will be a poster exhibition held during the conference with generous prizes (2 x £200). Posters can cover any of the five themes of Cambridge NeuroscienceDeadline for Abstract submission is Monday February 25th 2019.

Please note that poster boards will be 1 metre (w) by 2 metres (h). Please note that the optimum size for posters is A0 portrait (i.e. 841mm (w) x 1189mm (h)). If your poster is already printed and does not fit these requirements, please contact Dervila Glynn.

Public Engagement Programme on Thursday 14th March 2019

As part of this conference, we are delighted to be able to host the Cambridge Neuroscience Public Lecture that will be held in association with the Cambridge Science Festival.

Professor John Cryan (University College Cork) will deliver the public lecture - "A Gut Feeling about the Brain: Microbiome as a Key Regulator of Neurodevelopment and Behaviour". This lecture is free to attend.

Reception and Conference Dinner at Downing College on Thursday 14th March 2019

There will be a drinks reception and conference dinner at Downing College on Thursday 14th March following the meeting (extra fee payable). Places are available for this reception and dinner.

Directions

How to Get to Robinson College

Robinson is situated in Grange Road (CB3 9AN), close to the centre of Cambridge. Grange Road runs between Barton Road and Madingley Road and is parallel to Queens' Road (the 'Backs').

The best way to approach the College by road from the north, south or east is from Junction 12 of the M11.
