My research targets the negative feelings people can get from reward loss, which relates to sadness and is one of the core features of depression. I am testing the hypothesis that altered activity in the lateral orbitofrontal cortex (latOFC) reported in depression contributes to this symptom. I am also developing a connectivity fingerprinting protocol to identify a region within marmoset latOFC that appears most similar to the latOFC region shown to be dysregulated in depressed human patients.
