Dr Kshipra Gurunandan

My work focuses on the brain bases of learning and memory processes, especially as they relate to complex functions such as language, and how these change over the lifespan. I'm interested in experience-dependent brain plasticity, i.e. what becomes set in early life versus what remains plastic in adulthood, and the role of prior experience in learning, i.e. interactions between semantic and episodic memory and the corresponding cognitive and neural changes in healthy ageing. I primarily use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques in my work. The overall goals of my research are to understand general principles of brain organisation and how brain function is shaped by different types of experiences and learning.
