Neurotrophin BDNF receptor Tyrosine receptor kinase B (TrkB) is a cardinal regulator of neuronal survival and synaptic plasticity in mature neuronal systems. In neurodegeneration and ageing, its expression and signalling is impaired. Extensive literature is describing the downstream BDNF-TrkB signalling pathway, however, little is known about the proteins TrkB interacts with. Investigation of protein-protein interactions elucidated novel functions and activity regulations of diverse neuronal receptors. Therefore, I am interested to elucidate the TrkB protein interactome in the healthy adult and aged mouse brain and in a neurodegenerative disease context using the prion mouse model.
