As a prospective researcher of cognitive neuroscience, I aspire to contribute to a better understanding of the human mind – its mechanisms, its potential and its limits. I truly believe that an increasing knowledge about this so prominent organ of ours is of immeasurable value for mankind, as it could increase our awareness of what it means to be human and what possibilities and responsibilities arise from that. Obviously, one of the most intriguing questions of neuroscience is all about the nature of consciousness. Also, I am keen on discovering the neurological basis from which intelligence can emerge. This might include examining the mechanisms underlying memory formation and creativity. Last but surely not least, I find it highly relevant to investigate the neuronal circuitries involved in the induction and counteraction of anxiety.
