Interests

I am a consultant old age psychiatrist in Cambridge. I am interested in novel therapeutic approaches in dementia, particularly Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's disease. I completed my PhD with David Rubinsztein looking at autophagy up-regulation as a therapeutic approach in Huntington's disease. Since leaving the lab I have sought to close the gap between promising lab results and clinical trials. I have been involved in a trial of an autophagy up-regulator in Huntington's disease and I am PI on a number of clinical trials in Alzheimer's disease. I am the clinical director of the Windsor research unit at Fulbourn hospital. This unit is dedicated to clinical studies in dementia. I am also the clinical lead for dementia, mental health and neurology for the clinical research network in the east of England and a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge Department of Psychiatry.
