Interests

My main research interests are in the field of language acquisition in children with developmental disorders.

Since the same thing can be said in many distinct ways, variation is a core characteristic of language. Moreover, several levels of language processing are affected by variation as not only pronunciation but also lexical and grammar choices may vary drastically within and across speakers. This diversity certainly impacts the process of language acquisition and may contribute to the lexical deficits often observed in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and in other developmental disorders. In my research, I try to address the problem of how intra- and inter-speaker variation is processed by children with typical and atypical development during language learning.
