Rosana-Bristena Ionescu MD![]() University positionPhD student DepartmentsDepartment of Clinical Neurosciences Home pageResearch ThemesInterestsI am an MD, currently pursuing a PhD in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, with the support of the Medical Research Council Doctoral Training Partnership (MRC-DTP) and the Cambridge Trust. My research is centred on using induced neural stem cells from patients with progressive multiple sclerosis to model cellular inflammaging in vitro, towards understanding why regeneration failure occurs in this disease. Particularly, I am investigating metabolic mechanisms of disease progression, with a main focus on mitochondrial dysfunction and the dysregulation of lipid metabolism. Outside of the lab, I am committed to education. I supervise neuroscience to undergraduate students at Clare College. Research Focus
