Interests

Our primary goal is to understand how cellular components are sorted and dispersed by microtubule-based motor complexes, and how these transport processes contribute to the functions of cells in situ (i.e. within organisms). We have long-standing interests in the cytoplasmic transport of mRNAs - a process that spatially controls protein function in cells - and neuronal cargo trafficking. We use a combination of complementary techniques, including Drosophila genetics, time-lapse microscopy, biochemistry, structural biology and single molecule assays of cargo transport in vitro.
