Miss Anood Sohail
I am interested in studying membrane traffic events and their relevance to neurodegenerative diseases. The aim of our project is to use Drosophila melanogaster ("fruitfly") to study the intracellular membrane traffic in neurons and to observe the impairment of cell function and survival in Drosophila that carry mutations or transgenes similar to those that cause the human diseases. We aim to investigate the disease mechanisms by assessing whether mutations in other candidate genes enhance or suppress the pathology of flies.
