The dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) is thought to play a key role in emotion regulation, particularly through its interaction with the amygdala . Differences in dACC structure and function have been reported in various neuropsychiatric disorders.

I am studying the role of the dACC in the regulation of fear and anxiety using pharmacological manipulations and behavioural testing. I am also investigating the functional circuitry of the dACC with the amygdala using DREADDs.
